We have a Hope
Here is a song that I wrote last week as an offertory at our church. I have been reading 1 Peter in our community group and the idea of keeping our thoughts on the hope that will be brought to us when Jesus is revealed is the lyrical thought of this song. It is our default to forget that what is most real is invisible to us now and most of what we put our hopes in (weekend, vacation, companionship, success, beauty, pleasure, wealth) is visible and can be good but ultimately is just a shadow and a ghost compared to the true rest, the real riches and the ecstatic joys, pleasures and love that will be revealed when Jesus appears.
This recording was greatly shaped by my good friend Luke Tuttle of Dream Chief. He completely remixed what I had done and helped to shape the vision of what this song would be so I could finish it. So glad to collaborate with Luke to bring you all this song.

We Have a Hope
Nathan Partain, 2015
(Listen/Download) (Chord Charts)
Here we live,
Where confusion and fear fill the air,
Contstant whispers call us to despair,
There’s no way we can see where to go,
Without hope.
Yet above,
This dark fog there is heavens pure sky,
And we know that this darkness is light,
To the one who is guiding us home,
To his love.
We have a hope that cannot be taken.
We have a peace no storm can reach.
For all we want is to be with Jesus,
He is the hope and treasure we seek.
Here we stand,
Though we're hated by demons and man,
Yet we're guarded by faith til the end,
When our Jesus is revealed at last,
Rise with him
There is a city, Jesus’ kingdom coming to this earth,
With our inheritance of splendor and unmeasured worth.
It is unfading, unpolluted, undefiled and pure.
Though earth gives way it shall endure.
We have a hope that cannot be taken.
We have a peace no storm can reach.
For all we want is to be with Jesus,
He is the hope and treasure we seek.
